Church
Mission
To become a community living like Jesus changed by him and changing the city for his glory.
What do we value and believe as a church?
His Work > Our Work – We believe our lives are too small of a thing to give ourselves to. We have looked for success everywhere but God and found nothing but emptiness. We believe the true fulfillment is not found in our own ambitions & selfish goals but is found when we fully embrace Gods plan for our lives. Matthew 28:19; Acts 1:8, Ephesians 2:10
All of Us > Some of Us – We believe that God has called all of his people to restore and redeem a broken world. The church is not a building we gather in but a family we become a part of. Not so we can be served, but so that we can use our God given talents and gifts to change our community. Romans 12:4-8; Ephesians 4:11-13; 1 Peter 2:9; 1 Peter 4:10; I John 3:18
A Movement > A Church – We believe a church is great, but a movement is better. Our goal is not institutional success but influential success through the raising up and sending out of leaders. We believe the gospel moves best through people and not institutions. Acts 2:42-47; 2 Timothy 2:2
A Week > A Day – We believe the church should be a blessing and not a burden on its community. We believe church work is a 7 day a week calling and because of that we want to be more than a worship service we want to be a community living like Jesus changed by him and changing the city for his glory. Micah 6:8, Isaiah 1:17; Matthew 25:31-46
His Sacrifice > Our Failures – We believe that all of us have made mistakes, failed and come up short; therefore, rather than pretending we are perfect, we acknowledge our failures and our need for forgiveness. We believe his grace is bigger than our past. Romans 3:23-26; Hebrews 9:26-28; 1 John 2:2; 1 John 4:10; Colossians 1:13-14
This all adds up to a genuine ministry reaching the heart of college students and beyond. Our focus is in part, upon the University of Louisville campus, but we are also called to the Old Louisville community which features the highest concentration of young adults, and young professionals in the state. As a Christian church, we are called to affect the modern lifestyle of inner city lives, not matter what their station in life is currently.
